Ring Finger Inspiration

The latest trend in nail painting, individualizing your ring finger, is traditionally (well at least as traditionally as possible, considering how long nail painting has been existing) meant to draw attention to the ring finger to show if one’s single and independent, free from any obligations. Nowadays I think it just expresses that you’re a self-ruling woman with and incredible sense of style.

I started to paint my nails like that about 2 months ago when I saw a picture on Tumblr in which the girl’s nails were neon pink, except for the ring finger nails those were oh-so-glamorously sparkly gold. I fell in love right away and copied the look that night. Since then, guys are all like „why would you do that?” and girls are like „OMG that’s so cool!”. Men just don’t get this, right?
Unfortunately I’m never contented with the pictures I’m taking of my nails (you know, I have thoughts like „Gosh, my fingers look gross!” or „My hands look so fat!” and such), thus I don’t have any photos of my own but luckily amazing MAC makeup artist friend of mine, Fruzsi follows this trend too and she takes great pictures those she shares on Instagram, Facebook and her fabulous blog, Rouge Attitude (follow her on Facebook here and on GFC here) – now I can show you her photos, and a little selection from all around the World Wide Web.

Academy Awards 2012 - The Three Best & Worst Dresses

If you ask me, this year's Oscars were boring in terms of dresses. There was just nothing special, nothing interested me, except for Angelina Jolie's shocking skinniness and the fact that it's the first time I could actually see that Antonio Banderas is getting old. Sad, eh? Anyways, I’ve brought you a quick collection of the three of my favorite and least favorite looks of the 2012 Oscars.

Rose Byrne in Vivienne Westwood

Probably you all know by now how much I adore sequined clothes. Now this dress is a 100% win if you ask me, I love the tailoring and the shininess and she did a surprisingly good job accessorizing this dress. The only thing I don't like is the pair of heels, made by Jimmy Choo, I just hate how her toes interrupt the blackness... Is something wrong with me?

Stacy Keibler in Marchesa

Outstanding tailoring! I love how it's so extraordinary and shiny, how it looks somewhat effortless to me and it perfectly highlights her great figure. I adore the hairstyle as well, harmonizes with the lines of the dress in a subtle, fantastically composed way.

Cameron Diaz in Gucci

In this case it's not really the dress, it's all that she is. She's shining in this dress, with the hair, the smile, it just all looks fantastic! Dress-wise, I love the fringes and the sparkly detailing as well as the (otherwise) simple tailoring.

So, so unlucky with the choice of fabric! Dresses this tight, made of this fabric (silk/satin) are the most unflattering kind of dresses; they show off every single flaw, even the tiniest ones. Her tights' sewing is really obvious at her tummy and there's also something I can only call a camel-toe. It's just a bad choice. A really bad one.

Octavia Spencer

If I were her, I would have chosen a dark color dress, because for her figure it would have been a lot more flattering. Also, the "center" of the dress (embellishment-wise) is at her waist, which, although highlights that her waist is the slimmest part of her body, draws a lot of attention to her hips where she's the thickest. This dress, long story short, makes her look a lot fatter then she actually is. And I wouldn't wear short sleeves either...her arms are’nt toned enough, I'd say.

Natalie Portman

It's vintage, which is a huge plus, but honestly, this is the most boring dress ever. It's undeniably elegant, at least from afar, but if you look close enough, it's just a polka dot dress; I think it's just not sophisticated enough for an Oscar gala.

Paris

First of all I need to sincerely apologize for not writing in the past 2 (or so) months. Life hasn't been an easy ride for me lately, I've been busy and had no time to work at all. 

I spent the past months almost entirely in Paris. The city of love indeed, I must say - I fell in love with it right away and I don't even know how to describe the ambiance of it (or her, maybe? I would say it's definitely a her) properly without underestimating everything this wonderful place has to offer.

Apart from the great friendships I found here (as I'm writing this I'm already on my way to London on the TGV Eurostar) and from the cultural shock seeing all the differences from my country caused me, I experienced the magic of being Parisienne for a while, which will always remain a turning point in my life. It's not just that I could finally see what chic actually means (I know I tried and tried to describe it but got nowhere even after hours of digging on the Internet), it's the whole lifestyle, the way the French, the Parisian think, the way they behave. As I'm a pretty adaptable person and as the Parisian lifestyle is most definitely an appealing one, I could say I got to pick up some of the attitude. I mean I can throw away the one-way metro ticket and feel safe afterwards after getting through the entrance gate, despite all the guide books' warnings to keep the tickets until leaving the metro. So hardcore, right? 

Anyways, as I still consider my blog a priority in my life and a site to share my fashion experiences, I have a million things to write about by now, I swear to God I'll be a good blogger from now on. Mostly because I am officially home schooled starting from the 8th of January and now I have a lot of time on my hands - all I have left to do is learn French on a B2 level and write. Write a lot.
